The caravan begins in Stowe, Vermont where our campsite is nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains. More beautiful country cannot be found anywhere. In Stowe we visit many of the attractions that lure visitors to this area.
Our short drive to Shelburne takes us through more of Vermont's spectacular scenery. While in Shelburne we go on a Sunset Dinner Cruise and have a chance to enjoy Burlington, a lovely city on the shores of Lake Champlain.
As we make our way to Montreal, we travel through the beautifully manicured towns of South Hero and North Hero. In Montreal we relax in the comfort of our bus as we tour the city and its many famous points of interest. From Montreal it's on to Quebec City, the capital of Quebec Province. We follow scenic Route 138 traveling along the banks of the St. Lawrence River. Quebec City is the only remaining walled city in North America. As we tour this interesting city you experience the feeling of being in a 17th century European environment. Surprises galore await, as we explore this enchanting city one day and the surrounding countryside the next including a fantastic dinner at “L’ Astral” voted “Best Revolving Restaurant.”
Our ride to Colebrook, New Hampshire takes us through some of the Northeast's most beautiful country. Rolling farmland, forested mountains, sparkling lakes and gurgling brooks abound amid the fiery splendor of the New England fall foliage. Just east of Colebrook is Dixville Notch, New Hampshire's most famous notch, known for its rugged beauty. We have plenty of time to explore its many wonders including a luncheon at the very elegant Balsams Grand Hotel, site of the first in the nation results for primaries and national elections.
Littleton once again affords you the opportunity to enjoy an area so rich in beauty. In North Conway we board the Conway Scenic Railway for an incredible domed car journey through Crawford Notch, home of New Hampshire's majestic Mt. Washington. Ashland is in the heart of the Lakes Region. Quaint, picturesque towns surround Ashland. We enjoy a boat cruise on Squam Lake where the movie "On Golden Pond" was filmed. As you watch the sunset over the lake and listen to the loons calling, you are reluctant to leave.
Our next stop is historic Cooperstown. Here we visit the Baseball Hall of Fame where you find yourself immersed in more than 150 years of baseball history. At the Farmers’ Museum, we step into another century. The Fenimore Art Museum contains numerous masterpieces and is one of the finest private collections amassed anywhere.
In Corning we visit the famous Corning Glass Works and Glenn Curtiss Museum. This afternoon we enjoy a relaxing Fall Colors lunch cruise and tour of Keuka Lake aboard the “Viking Spirit.”
