What a fantastic time of the year to traverse the full length of the mighty Mississippi River. The weather is ideal, you enjoy the peak season of Fall Colors and the crowds have thinned out because children are back in school.

The Mighty Mississippi River has always been a backbone of American history and very influential in the growth of this nation. We travel the entire length of this Mighty River from its beginning near Bemidji, Minnesota where it’s only a few feet wide and we can actually step across it to the mouth where it dumps into the Gulf of Mexico at mile marker “0” in Venice, Louisiana. As we travel the “Great River Road,” we take our time to enjoy the sights and sounds of everything it has to offer. We tour all the river’s legends and history along the way. This trip is one exciting adventure you don’t want to miss.

We rendezvous and start this exciting adventure with an orientation and welcome party in Bemidji, Minnesota. The following day our chartered motorcoach and naturalist guide takes us on a tour of the Itasca State Park. Here we enjoy the Fall Colors in all of its splendid glory plus visit many interesting sites including a walk across the Mighty Mississippi where this small creek in Minnesota starts its winding journey 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

Two days of touring in the Twin Cities take us on a highlights tour of the metro areas including a notorious gangster tour, a sightseeing cruise including Sunday brunch, the Minnesota History Museum, legendary Minnehaha Falls plus a fantastic dinner and popular live Broadway show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.

We are in for a treat when we reach Davenport and the Quad Cities. We enjoy a guided Highlights Tour to take in the sights and sounds this great area has to offer including the Arsenal at Rock Island plus John Deere Museum and Pavilion. Our third day in Davenport is one you won’t forget as we enjoy a bus tour of the seven Amana Colonies including an out of this world family style lunch.

Hannibal is Mark Twain country and hometown of Samuel Clemens. We relive his escapades and adventures as we spend quality time in the Historic District, take a sightseeing train ride and go on a romantic Mark Twain Riverboat Dinner Cruise complete with live music and dancing. One evening we enjoy the Mark Twain Dinner and live Stage performance featuring the story of Mark Twain and his famous characters in a show entitled “Mark Twain Himself.” Two days of bus tours in St. Louis include the Gateway Arch, the Museum of Westward Expansion, Busch Stadium, the Budweiser Brewery and the August Busch Estate where you see the famous “Clydesdale Horses.”

Tours in Memphis include many Elvis sites and the famous Sun Studios, “Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll.” We visit with Mr. Lansky, the man who sold Elvis his clothes, and spend another afternoon at Elvis’ Graceland and get to know the man behind the legend on our Platinum Tour which includes the mansion, pink cadillac, two custom jets, vintage vehicles and museum.

Our guided Bus tour of the Vicksburg area includes the famous battlefield, historic downtown and the Cedar Grove Mansion.

After a tour of Baton Rouge and its interesting highlights, we travel the famous “Great River Road” to New Orleans. Our tour of the “Big Easy” includes a guide who tells you interesting stories about the history and highlights you have heard or read about. We visit Mardi Gras World via a behind the scenes tour of the world’s largest float building operation. We experience fun, food and folklore as we watch our hilarious Cajun/Creole Chef prepare traditional New Orleans dishes in front of us at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Afterward we enjoy the dinner our chef prepared.

Last, but not least, we take a bus deep in Cajun Country to Venice, the site of mile marker “0” and the location where we enjoy a flight over the Delta and actual Mouth of the Mississippi River in a seaplane. This is followed by a fantastic farewell gourmet luncheon and tour at the famous Woodland Plantation. This plantation is pictured on the Southern Comfort bottle.

Come! Join us on the “Great River Road” from its beginning to end and enjoy a very unique trip.
