We rendezvous at an RV park near Lancaster, PA where Adventure Caravans staff greets and invites us to the get acquainted social.
The next few days you will never forget for as long as you live. We’re off to the Amish farmlands. We visit an actual Amish farm and learn all about Amish customs from your guide. We see the pristine fields, one-room school houses, windmills and farmers working in their fields with teams of horses and mules. We visit an Amish canning company, tour a pretzel factory and take an Amish buggy ride through the Amish countryside. Our tour bus drives right through the huge Kreider dairy barn which houses over 1,200 cows, then watch the cows ride the automatic carousel in the state-of-the-art milking parlor before enjoying lunch at the Kreider Dairy Restaurant. We are welcomed into an Amish homestead as guests to enjoy an authentic Amish dinner. We also make stops at an Amish farm, quilt and craft shop and Kitchen Kettle Village.
We visit the Sight and Sound Millennium Theatre for a spectacular backstage “behind the scenes” tour. We see how this fantastic show is created and visit many areas previously off limits to visitors: The control room, cast dressing rooms, set design, backstage, etc. We tour the city of Strasburg and then return to the Millennium Theatre for the spectacular stage performance of “In The Beginning.”
Day 4 is Sunday and set aside for you to have free time to enjoy this magnificent area and the Amish culture.
Day 5 we go to the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, PA. Our guide takes us on a tour of Hershey then visits the Hershey Museum, Hershey Gardens and Hershey Chocolate World complete with free samples. On our return trip to the RV park we take back roads visiting some very unique and interesting places.
Our drive to the Jersey City RV park is easy. It is only 135 miles and our route does not include the congested areas near New York City. We camp at the Liberty Harbor Marina and RV Park which is on the Hudson River with a view of the New York skyline and Statue of Liberty right from the comfort of our RVs.
Now for the Big Apple, New York City! There are many things to see and do here during our many bus tours. If you are going to New York for the first time, you are thrilled at seeing its world-famous landmarks you have heard and read about. Our New York City guide is a former Broadway actress and enjoys showing you her city.
Some New York highlights are the harbor cruise to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, a visit to NBC Studios, back stage tour of Radio City Music Hall, New York night lights tour, a romantic carriage ride in Central Park and a visit to New York’s Upper West Side. New York is the cultural center of the world with outstanding entertainment and Broadway shows. We see two of the top New York Broadway shows during our visit here.
One of the days includes a walking and “noshing” tour of Greenwich Village. During this tour, we visit several eateries and sample some of their delicacies.
If you think you’ve had all the excitement and unforgettable
experiences that you could handle up until this point, wait and see what is in store for you next. The “Spirit Sunset dinner cruise!” This romantic dinner cruise affords the best views of New York City at night and includes a very unique musical floor show.
