We provide an opportunity to really see the magnificent scenery of the Copper Canyon aboard the Premier Express Train on the Chihuahua-Pacifico Railroad jointly owned by a United States Company and a Mexican Company.
Los Mochis
When we arrive in Los Mochis we are met at the RV park by our professionally trained Adventure Caravans Coordinators. Our RVs are secure and our pets are looked after while we are in the Copper Canyon. Pets are not allowed on the Passenger Train but our friendly staff couple will walk, feed and water pets left behind at the park.
In leaving Los Mochis the next morning, we experience absolutely breath taking views as we embark on a seven-hour train ride to Creel or Divisadero depending on which exciting tour you choose. Relax and visit with friends while enjoying the quality viewing of the canyons from first class reclining seats and large viewing windows. An excellent lunch in the dining car is included on the train to the canyon and a great, relaxing dinner is served on the return trip. Our top of the canyon only tours includes four days and three nights at the canyon with nine deliciously prepared meals, welcome cocktails and entertainment by Tarahumara Indians. Tips are included for the bus drivers, guides, waiters, bellhops and maids.
Divisadero/Creel
We are met by our own licensed guide who is with us for our stay at Divisadero. We are amazed at how much more enjoyment we get out of the Copper Canyon having our own guide traveling with us. He shows and tells us all about the Tarahumara Indian lifestyle and takes us to places that the average visitor to the canyon never sees. We enjoy our first two nights at the La Posada Mirador right in the heart of Tarahumara Indian Country. This is a top notch, first class hotel located on the rim with awesome views of the canyon. The hotel has a large dining room with a cozy lounge and fireplace. From here we take a walking tour of the canyon rim to stare in awe over one of the most beautiful and unheralded vistas in North America.
The second day, we board a bus for a tour into the canyon area with our guide to see spectacular views and make a stop at the beautiful Oteros Canyon. Arriving in Creel, we see and enjoy the sights of this very unique region. You visit a cave dwelling of Tarahumara Indians (many still live in caves). These shy people live in primitive fashion and are famous for their craft work and long distance running ability. We visit a mission, valley of the mushrooms and many other points of interest before returning to Divisadero where you have time to explore and shop for Tarahumara Indian handicrafts.
The third day we board a bus to visit the awesome views of the canyon rim area around Divisadero including the famous Balancing Rock before boarding the train for the short trip to Cerocahui.
Cerocahui/Urique
Canyon
The charming village of Cerocahui is located at the edge of Urique Canyon. Feel at home here as we stay in the first class Mision hotel with an attractive Mexican decor and charming courtyard. We tour this small historic village founded in 1694 by Jesuit Missionaries. One of the highlights is our visit to the Tarahumara Indian girl’s school.
After breakfast the next morning, we board our bus for a tour of the Urique Canyon lookout. Standing at 7,500 feet, it provides the most sweeping view of the Copper Canyon system and is the deepest and most photographed of all canyons. Be prepared with plenty of film. The mining town of Urique is nestled below, along the river. Also included on this tour are stops at a Tarahumara ranch and the Virgencita (little virgin) spring.
To get the best Copper Canyon trip possible, we must stay at both Divisadero and Cerocahui or we miss a large part of what we came here to see. We are the only company that stays in the Copper Canyon a third night so we can include Cerocahui on our passenger train trips. Come join us for the time of your life, you’ll be glad you did. |
