Emerald Coast

Leaving Pharr, Texas we travel down the Gulf Coast and enter a whole new world, the realm of the Maya, Toltec and Aztec. Nowhere else in Mexico do we see such beauty traveling through villages among hillsides covered with citrus groves and other crops common to the region. The jungle rainforest areas are a joy to see along with the Caribbean Sea. We learn about ancient civilizations when we visit numerous ruins in the Yucatan region and many small and interesting villages that dot the beaches of the Gulf Coast. Please Note: These trips are for the adventuresome and not for those who put a high priority on the importance of RV facilities and roads. These are exotic trips with great appeal and exciting lifetime experiences but the roads are poor in some areas and RV accommodations are rustic in many areas that we travel.

CD Victoria
Many of our tours make their last stop in CD Victoria for Adventure Caravans’ traditional farewell dinner where we can reminisce with our new caravan friends about the fun and good times we had on our Adventure to Mexico’s Yucatan.

Costa Esmeralda
The campground is located next to the Gulf. A Palapa bar/restaurant overlooking the beach is located on the premise. From here we visit the incredible Totonaca Ruins of El Tajin which were inhabited during the 4th and 5th centuries AD. This is the largest religious ceremonial center in northern Mexico and one of its most interesting and unusual ruins. The Papantla Flyers also perform their death defying acts while we are here.

Veracruz
Veracruz is one of those rare cities that has personality – like Boston, New Orleans, San Francisco and San Antonio. The longer you’re here, the more you like this fascinating town - Mexico’s largest seaport and one of Mexico’s “most Spanish” places. We tour this lovely Colonial seaside city and experience its history. We also visit the village of Antigua, site of Cortez’s first landing in New Spain.

Catemaco
Catemaco is the location of Monkey Island where “Last of Eden” was filmed. Many movies were filmed in the Nanciyaga Rain Forest known as the “Island of the Shamans” (Witch Doctors). We visit this quaint little town and enjoy the famous boat tour at La Ola.

Isla Aguada
We enjoy the sunsets at Isla Aguada. The RV park is located next to the water where we can sit and enjoy what this beautiful beach has to offer. This is an excellent place for an impromptu beach party or group cookout.

Yucatan

Campeche
Campeche is another enjoyable stop with a nice RV park where we enjoy a very interesting tour and have time for more rest and relaxation.

Merida
Merida, known as “Paris of the Americas,” includes a very interesting guided city bus tour ending with dinner and entertainment at an excellent Mayan restaurant.

Piste
The Chichen Itza Ceremonial site is considered one of the three most famous ruins in Mexico and the most well preserved in the country. Of mixed Mayan and Toltec influence, the ruins were founded between 350 and 450 AD. The main pyramid, “El Castillo,” has four stairways of 91 steps each. After visiting the ruins, we enjoy a Mayan dinner with live entertainment at the Piramides Inn.

Cancun
The waters on the Caribbean Sea are warm, sparkling clear and gorgeously multi-hued. From here we take the ferry to Isla Mujeres which has some of the nicest beaches in all of Mexico to enjoy a day of leisure.

Paamul
We enjoy several days along the Caribbean Coast just south of Cancun. Our days are spent exploring the incredible turquoise colored Caribbean Sea giving us the opportunity for excellent swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Our tour package includes a full day at the world famous “Xcaret,” which is proclaimed a “Paradise from Heaven.” People fly to “Xcaret” from all over the world just to enjoy its various activities. They do a re-enactment of the Ball Game and a native Mayan Civilization Show in the evening for our entertainment pleasure. We include special seating, dinner and drinks package for this show. The world famous Papantla Flyers perform their death defying acts while we are at Xcaret. One of the options is to swim with Dolphins. Another day is enjoyed at Xel-ha, a natural lagoon with tropical fish which is now a National Park. Your tour package includes an all inclusive pass for their activities plus meals and open bar for the full day. From Paamul we tour the Talum Ruins and take a ferry to spend a day of leisure on the famous Island of Cozumel. Using the RV park as our base, we are near many interesting optional activities to see and do including visiting Playa del Carmen Crococun, Coba Ruins, Tres Rios, Puerto Aventuras, Kantun-Chi Cenote, Akumal, Actun-Chen Caves, or even go on an ATV Jungle Tour. You enjoy this tropical paradise so much you won’t want to leave.

Chetumal
The campground has a beautiful setting located next to the Caribbean Sea.

Belize

This English speaking nation became an independent country on September 1, 1981. Our guide and tour bus pick us up at the RV park and travel to Orange Walk where we take a Jungle Boat Tour to enjoy the day at the Lamanai Ruins. There we may see and hear the Howler Monkeys while enjoying a typical lunch with cold drinks. You don’t want to miss this exciting part of your Yucatan Adventure. (Passports are required for this portion of the tour.)
